Ask about coastal exposure in the quote

Give the supplier the site location and exposure information. Ask whether the proposed finish, hardware and warranty suit those conditions. Request the written care instructions and any saltwater-distance exclusions for the exact product.

Compare complete assemblies and tested performance. A material described as “coastal” does not settle the project’s energy, water, structural or wildfire requirements. Your design team should specify what evidence the proposed system needs.

Coordinate large openings and site access

For large glass panels or heavy doors, obtain unit dimensions and weights early. Have the builder check delivery access, unloading space, lifting needs and storage. Include those services in the budget and identify who arranges them.

Agree on sill, threshold and wall-interface details before ordering. Changes to those details can affect finished-floor heights, waterproofing and the frame configuration.
