City of Los Angeles: windows and doors for a rebuild

For a property in the City of Los Angeles, including Pacific Palisades, use the LADBS rebuild route. Keep the proposed window and door package tied to the current permit drawings.

Use LADBS’s dedicated recovery resources

LADBS’s wildfire hub links to rebuild applications, plan-submittal requirements, property records, permit status and recovery guidance. It also lists the City’s One-Stop Rebuilding Center and the Palisades inspection and permitting support location.

Have your design team confirm eligibility and conditions before relying on an expedited or special review path. The approved project documents are the basis for product selection.

Keep alternatives tied to the drawings

Quote the same revision of the opening schedule, elevations and relevant details. If you change a window’s operating style, a door configuration or the amount of glazing, ask the designer whether the drawings or energy documentation need revision.

A substitution list should identify the original selection, the proposed product, the reason for the change and the approving person. Preserve the opening IDs so the supplier, builder and inspector can follow the same list.

Confirm current recovery provisions

Before choosing a specific product, ask the design team to confirm the applicable code edition, energy documentation, wildfire-exposure requirements, safety glazing, emergency escape openings and any planning conditions for this parcel. These are separate checks. The local authority decides what applies to the permit.

LADBS publishes implementation guidance for the City’s emergency orders. Rebuild code-cycle provisions can include exceptions, so ask which rules apply to your permit rather than assuming a single code year covers everything.

Plan deliveries with the builder

The City’s recovery page includes recommended truck-delivery times for Pacific Palisades. Check the current guidance when scheduling; also confirm the site’s access, unloading space and receiving contact with the contractor.

Distinguish a supplier’s expected shipping date from the agreed jobsite delivery. If the site is not ready, settle storage arrangements and responsibility before dispatch.
