Altadena and LA County: windows and doors for a rebuild
Altadena is an unincorporated community. Use LA County’s rebuilding resources for a County-reviewed property, and verify the jurisdiction for addresses near city boundaries.
Start with the County rebuild route
The County guides owners through plan preparation, permit applications, review, construction and inspections. Its Altadena and Calabasas One-Stop Permit Centers bring relevant departments together. Use the official page for current locations, hours and appointment details.

County standard plans can provide another starting point, but the site still needs review. Selecting a standard plan does not settle every window or door detail for your lot.
Turn the plans into a product schedule
Ask your designer for the current window and door schedule, elevations and energy documentation. Keep the opening IDs when requesting prices. Identify fixed and operable windows, door swings, surrounding glass and the distinction between unit dimensions and rough openings.
If a supplier proposes a different series or configuration, send the alternative back to the designer before releasing it. A similar-looking product may have a different frame depth, clear opening or rated performance.
Confirm the rebuild rules for this permit
Before choosing a specific product, ask the design team to confirm the applicable code edition, energy documentation, wildfire-exposure requirements, safety glazing, emergency escape openings and any planning conditions for this parcel. These are separate checks. The local authority decides what applies to the permit.
The County's standard-plan guidance discusses special rebuild code-cycle provisions. Ask the reviewer to identify the edition and exceptions applicable to your project, including any fire and life-safety provisions. Keep that answer with the product schedule.
